The Beelzebub oneshot is a precursor of the Beelzebub manga series. It was first submitted by Ryūhei Tamura to editors of Weekly Shōnen Jump. The chapter won Weekly Shōnen Jump's fourth annual Golden Future Cup in 2008. Chapter 1 of the manga series would later incorporate many of the elements of the pilot chapter. The chapter would also be included in the oneshot compilation book Beelzebub Demon Lord Gaiden: Ryūhei Tamura's Collection of Short Stories.
